چکیده
Gradual wear of opposing teeth is a normal phenomenon in human dentition. To ensure a better quality of life through better dental health, there is a need for quality dental restorative materials to repair or replace natural teeth. Several aspects are looked at when designing a proper dental implant. Aesthetics, durability, and integration with the supporting teeth and soft tissues are some key design issues. Several types of materials are available in current dentistry for teeth restoration and replacement, with new materials being introduced every year. The understanding of the wear mechanisms of these new types of dental restorative materials alone or in combinations with either enamel or another dental restorative material becomes important. In this report, work done in the field of analyzing the wear of dental material in the past and present

متن کاملEffect of Coating Materials on Wear in Internal Gears
Theoretical and experimental investigation of wear during coupling in internal gears coated with various polymeric coating materials was performed in this study. In the theoretical part of the study, Archards’ wear formulation was adapted to internal gears and wear behavior in various conditions was determined. Moreover, a fatigue and wear testing apparatus having similar working principle with...

متن کاملMechanical & Aerospace Engineering Colloquium Series Spring 2018 Program
New insights into friction and wear from atomic force microscopy (AFM) and in situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) are presented. First, nanocontacts with 2-dimensional materials like graphene are discussed, where friction depends on the number of layers. An initial model attributing this to puckering [1] is now enhanced by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations showing a strong role of ene...
متن کاملA Comparative Study of Tooth Wear, Mechanical Power Losses and Efficiency in Normal and High Contact Ratio Asymmetric Spur Gears
The surface tooth wear which occurs at the gear contact region due to inadequate contact strength of the tooth is one of the predominant modes of gear failures. Currently, higher contact ratio spur gears are increasingly used in power transmission applications such as aircraft, wind turbine, automobiles and compact tracked vehicles due to their high load carrying capacity. In this work, the di...
